What is Thermostat mode?
The Thermostat setting is a simple switch in the Settings tab that you can turn on or off to tell the app that your cooler uses a thermostat.
It will then give you better and more accurate forecasts.
How Do I Turn Thermostat Mode On (or Off) ?
Open the app and tap on the "Settings" ⚙️ gear icon.
Scroll down just a little until you see the following section, labeled: Thermostat Controlled? (new!)⭐

You can now switch Thermostat mode ON, as shown in the image above.
When you change your Comfort Zone range, the app will now use your Low tmperature as your thermostat's target temperature.

The image above shows 68°F as the Low temperature, which should match your actual (real) thermostat's target temperature.
Be sure your app's Low Comfort Zone temperature matches your thermostat for the best indoor forecast.
Why Use a Thermostat?
To keep from getting too cold!
The thermostat sets a "target temperature" which works by preventing the cooler from getting much colder than the target.
With the thermostat stopping and restarting the cooler as the indoor conditions get too far away from the target temperature, the overall effect is that you have a more consistent temperature.
This means you get more comfortable indoor temperatures and even lower indoor humidities too!
More benefits include: energy and water savings from reduced cooler runtime.
Some thermostats are integrated into an evaporative cooler, but others are an add-on upgrade. It doesn't matter which kind of thermostat you have, as long as it's controlling your evaporative cooler.
Have The Comfort Zone's Default Temperatures Changed with Thermostat Mode?
Yes.
The default range of Comfort Zone temperatures is set to a warmer "low" temperature when thermostat mode is ON. It's raised up from the previous low of 58°F (14.4°C) to a new low of 68°F (20°C). This goes along with the idea that a thermostat allows you to "limit" how cold the cooler gets for maximum comfort.
Those without a thermostat are more accustomed to manually adjusting their cooler's fan speeds when it gets too cold, so the original default "low" was intentionally set lower to help give the best guidance.
Remember, these default settings are just suggestions. You can always change your Comfort Zone temperature range to exactly match your personal preferences (regardless of the defaults.)
New users to the app will see the Thermostat mode switched on by default.
How Do I Know it's Working?
You'll no longer see the app sometimes say that it's "TOO COLD" 🥶 indoors to run the cooler.
Also, you'll notice the indoor temperatures will be within 1° of your thermostat's target temperature much more often, especially on less-hot days and in the Spring and Fall seasons.
