Bugs?!? Inconceivable!

Sorry, bugs are a feature of most apps, including this one. Fortunately, I'm working on fixing these!

This list is for the private/non-public version on BOTH Android and Apple devices!

App Bugs

We don't know of any at the moment!

Tablet Bugs Only:

  • Amazon FirePad tablets aren't working when looking up Location data. The app is not available from the amazon appstore, yet, so this doesn't impact anyone yet.

Server Bugs

  • None known at this time.

Low Priority Annoyances

These are some minor annoyances we're going to fix:

  • Ad player doesn't yet have a mute button (you can use regular volume controls, however)
  • No subtitles (or inconsistently shown) for video ads

How Do I Update My Location?

Tap the Settings button/gear icon, and then scroll most of the way down. There is a LOCATION SHARING section with a button "> Update My Location <" that will prompt you for your location permission and then update the server to set your new forecast position using your current location.

You can update your location at any time. At the moment, you can only set your location to your present location (using your device's GPS sensors). In other words, there is no way to pick a city or zip code instead. This might come in a future version, but for now this is the way to update the location used for your weather forecasts.

Where Can I See the Version of the App?

  • Tap the Settings button/gear icon, and then scroll down towards the bottom.

  • In the second-to-last section, called "Current Version", just above the Privacy section, the currently installed version is shown.

For tablets, this is in the right-most Settings tab column, near the bottom.

You can also see the version in your device's settings, but this is easier.

Can I Send Feedback from Inside the App?

Yes! Please do! Under the "Inbox" subtab of the Home page, or in the upper right corner of the Help/Info tab, you can find the Send Feedback button.

Dead Bug Collection

From 1.0.51

  • A <?> shows up instead of Too humid for fan mode in the "My Guide" reason column whenever it's so humid outside, that even when it's cool enough to be comfortable, it's exceptionally humid (e.g. it's probably raining.)

From 1.0.50

  • Not really a bug, but the Home tab did not display any indication of the location used for the weather forecast (the location you shared initially). Version 1.0.51 adds the nearest town or city name to the Home tab. If you set your location in the app while away from home, now there's a chance you'll notice when the town name reflects it on the Home tab (above the large outdoor temperature number on the left).

From 1.0.49

  • None. This version addressed a requested change for iOS devices before public release.

From 1.0.48

  • (FIXED) The Explore tab "Daily" mini-pies had too low contrast, similar to the fix for the Home "Daily" subtab.
  • (FIXED) The iOS ToS and Location Share dialog required a minor update per Apple.
  • (FIXED) Added a missing feedback snackbar popup in the Settings Tab, when you hit the "Update My Location" button, to give feedback that the update was successful. Somehow that had no feedback this whole time. Ooops!

From 1.0.47

  • (FIXED) Typos in FAQ section
  • (FIXED) Improved trial banner text, less is more
  • (FIXED) removed extraneous logging from the production build
  • (FIXED) the same bug on the Feedback form panel that is fixed on tablets is also a bug on phones. The layout behaves strangely when you fill the feedback form with more than a few lines of text.
  • (FIXED) The racehorse emoji for Durango, MX ends with a blank frame. This is an upstream bug, so I'll revert to a static emoji icon in the next release. Visually it's just weird.

From 1.0.46

  • (FIXED) iPad orientation wasn't locking to Landscape mode, so portrait mode accidentally was possible (and exceptionally ugly)
  • (FIXED) The "mode" words were wrapped, like "COO" "L" on iPads. Adjusted font sizing.
  • (FIXED) The feedback form behaved strangely on iPads in landscape mode
  • (FIXED) The font size for the dropdown menu labels are too small in the year-picker of the Savings Tab.

From 1.0.45

  • (FIXED) Phones only: The font size for the labels on the bottom navigation bar were absurdly small.

From 1.0.44

  • (FIXED) The tablet mode layouts were somewhat ugly, and used overly large font sizes depending on your screen size and resolution (viewport). This is mostly resolved. There might be a few places where font sizes are a little off, but unlikely to be noticable unless you're using an unusually sized device.

From 1.0.40

  • (FIXED) Sometimes, the Feedback form allowed you to send an empty feedback.

From 1.0.38

  • (FIXED) The "Daily" view on the Home tab isn't blurred by the paywall, even though it should be.
  • (FIXED) The Fan-Mode slider wasn't always using 0.5°F increments, depending on how the Comfort-Zone range was set. Now fixed to always offer 0.5°F.
  • (FIXED) On unusually narrow tablet screens, the feedback form buttons may extend outside the border of the feedback window. (Cosmetic bug only).

From 1.0.32

  • (FIXED) There's a race condition, where an ad-unlock event can revert to locked state (blurred) for up to 1 minute.
  • (FIXED) Ad playback on Nokia 1.3 crashes the app. Likely another Impeller platform bug. Starting to investigate it. Might disable Impeller for initial launch due to these low-end GPU problems. (Impeller disabled for now in Android.)

From 1.0.28

  • (FIXED) The "Unlock or Upgrade" button panel is off-center on phones. Oops! It looks great on tablets, but we'll fix it ASAP.
  • (FIXED) Android phones with low-powered Adreno GPUs had flicker issues due to a platform software issue. This is fixed by a platform upgrade.

From 1.0.26

  • (FIXED!) After initially tapping "I Agree, Continue" there is a confusing message displayed saying that you need to tap another button to share your location. This is an oversight. The coffee mug message and button are the fallback for users hitting "Not Now" instead of "I Agree", so it's sending a conflicting message as-is. This will be fixed in the next release so it displays a thank you, and a "please wait" indicator, along with the drum animation.
  • (FIXED!) When using multi-app "Split Screen" mode on a tablet, it's possible for the app to get confused about its layout when resuming from paused state, and render in a locked portrait orientation looking like a monster phone.
  • (FIXED!) (SERVER-SIDE) You need to first share your location on the first device that is liked to an email address, before attempting to link it using the same email address on another device. The validation attempt will succeed, however the settings won't be shared. (Fixed Mar 2, 2025.)
